Brooklyn Navy Yard - Master Plan Conceptual Design |
Loci Architecture submitted a proposal for the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation Master Plan Conceptual Design project, outlining a strategic, organized, and research-driven approach to deliver a high-quality conceptual plan. The proposal detailed an initial phase of internal and client kickoff meetings to align on scope, deliverables, and scheduling, supported by a comprehensive Project Schedule and Responsibility Matrix to define responsibilities and track milestones. Loci proposed the use of cloud-based collaboration tools, weekly coordination calls, bi-weekly internal reviews, and monthly client reports to ensure transparency and consistent communication. The conceptual design process would begin with a site assessment and a Basis of Design report, followed by focused research into programmatic needs, Vertical Factory typologies, infrastructure, sustainability and resiliency measures, zoning and code compliance, tenant impact, and operational requirements. This research would inform multiple design options exploring building envelope performance, spatial layouts, core and shell planning, and manufacturing workflows. Each option would undergo a comparative analysis to identify the most effective solution, which would then be developed into a preferred conceptual design and compiled into an Initial Design Concept package for client review. |
