Any successful design practice should create a working environment that is relaxed and inspirational, yet focused on providing the best possible service to its clients. As we strive to design beautiful projects, we are building a great team: a cornerstone of our hiring strategy is to gather a group of skilled designers, architects, and managers with diverse backgrounds who support a collaborative workplace.
Each staff has a conversation with firm leadership every six months to evaluate performance and set goals for the upcoming year. These are in-depth conversations and are rich opportunities for the staff to share their perspective and expertise. Additionally, we offer a professional development program where meetings with individual staff take place every three months to discuss how the firm can support areas of research, attendance at conferences, obtaining accreditations, skills development, etc.
This past year, we initiated a new hire mentorship program. Each new employee is assigned a staff member who introduces them to the office culture, work flow, and their co-workers. Meetings are scheduled with each person at the office so they can share a “day in the life” of a project manager, designer, or principal. The mentorship continues throughout the full term of employment and gives the entire team insight and a voice in the growth and success of our firm.
