New York, New York
The $450,000 project included upgrading the building entrance, reconstructing the existing planters, re-cladding the cantilevered canopy, and providing a new ramp between the sidewalk and the lower level lobby. The design process was inspired by the 12 story building’s heritage—using the original building elements as cues, the new canopy was detailed with stainless steel cladding in two custom finishes to accentuate the entry and create an elegant entrance for the building. Granite, tinted concrete, refurbished 1950s-era entry doors and stainless steel details complete the project.
The project received the 2007 Murray Hill Architectural Award for Excellence in Preservation and Design.
